Chinese-born cellist Yihang Li played Kol NIdre of Bruch like a finished artist when I first heard her she was nine years old. She's now 18 and only gets better! The pianist is Liang-yu Wang.

Heard him give a recital in 1969. I felt he was having a bit of an "off night" - it was a bit messy. And yet there was poetry. And I 've heard wonderful recordings of his playing.

I'm not a serious record collector, so I have no recordings of the concerto. but I remember one exciting concert where I heard it. Rostropovich conducted and Argerich was the pianist. Forget who the trumpeter was but I think the orchestra was the NY Philharmonic.

Since I don't think anyone else has mentioned it, I will mention the Hungerford recording. It may not be to everyone's taste, as a friend described the first movement as a "rollercoaster ride" but it's exciting as heck!

In case anyone did not notice: This video was posted on April 1st, ie April Fool's Day, and was intended as a spoof. Jed Distler said he certainly did not write what he is quoted as saying. The endorsements of the new Hanon project were all made up.

If you're interested, you can still hear it by going to YouTube and putting his name, and Klavierhaus into the search function. He certainly has a history with this piece. I first heard him perform it about 30 years ago, and he and Cortot each played it for each other about 65 years ago!
