Get yourself some pastels or oil sticks(craypas), working in color is more rewarding. Set up a simple stlll life- a wine bottle, dish of fruit and a figurine and see what you can do. As a former Art teacher (I had a number of students become professionals) I hope you will find art a rewarding hobby.

Sibelius Violin Concerto
I recently came across a DVD of Vengerov playing this concerto. Beautifully played backed by the Chicago with Barenboim. The DVD also has a good performance by Barenboim of Nights in the Gardens of Spain. Highly recommended.

Ratmansky choreographed a new ballet to Rachmaninoffs music with the Miami Ballet last week. Did anyone see it? Was it any good? I love the music and always wondered why it was not used for a ballet.

As a fan of old movies I have noticed that men's derbies disappeared from the screen after WW2. Only Laurel and Hardy carried on the tradition and even they did not wear them in their 1940s Fox films. What happened?
