Recordings do help in a number of ways: they preserve a great performance for posterity, they make music available where it might be impossible to hear live, and often a recording is cheaper than a theater ticket for those who can't afford them. I love my CDs.

Currentzis can afford the luxury of over extended rehearsal time recording in the middle of the Urals to get everything as he likes it. That said, I didn´t love his Mozart and was not interested in his Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky.

Heard him several times live, both with orchestra and in recital. He may have played the most encores I have ever heard in my life in a single concert: some 45 minutes worth of Liszt.

Lent always brings interesting offerings from the record labels. A beautiful Stabat Mater in the Pergolesi mould, but for 4 voices. Beautiful recording.

I first heard I Lombardi in a live Rome Opera tape with Scotto and Pavarotti conducted by Gavazzeni. In spite of the less admirable sound, it still is the finest Lombardi I have ever heard, Pavarotti was in glorious voice and Scotto outclasses big time Deutekom in the Philips recording.

Still there´s something monotonous about his career. No Mozart, especially Ferrando and Don Ottavio that might have seemed tailor made for him, almost no Baroque music, and too many Tonios and Almavivas.

Angélica is pronounced the A as in Apple, the gé which has the accent, is more tricky, it is not as in generous, since we have a different pronunciation for the g, it´s a sharper sound, damn, can´t think of something similar in English.

No problem dear Lance, Luz is pronounced like Lou and the z like sss, instead of thhh as in Spain.
Uribe also every vocal is pronounced, the U as in University, ri as in river, and be as in Beethoven.
