I read that David Zinman has been leading weekend late hour concerts in Zürich for years with great success. They attract a young crowd who dance to a DJ after the concert. Attendence is strong.

In my experience the smaller scale county fairs are more fun than state fairs. I was last at a county fair a couple of years ago to see young relatives show their animals in competition and had a fine time.
