While I don't read every single word of this forum, still, I don't see any mention of Corlyss D. recently. Is she still sick or what. :?:

Yes, thank you for your interest! I do get personal messages about Corlyss (Lyss) from CMG members. She is still in a recovery mode. She's enjoying her time away from the computer, catching up on reading (she reads voraciously) and taking care of her flock of pets. Unfortunately, she is not able to type until she completely recovers from her arm ailment. I do talk with her from time-to-time and will tell her you have inquired. She doesn't even check her e-mails very much right now since she cannot answer them anyway, but we do talk on the telephone. I have no idea when we can expect her back.

I had a very short e-mail from her a few days ago, typed with one finger, letting me know that she's getting better, but, respects the Doctors wishes that she stays off the Computer, they, in turn, complimented her for staying away from it and thus aiding her recovery, it may be quite some time before she can return here...

here's sincerely hoping that Corlyss recovers and returns to us quickly...

I would certainly hope she gets back soon and contributes "voraciously" to the Book Thread.
We readers could use some interest and support over there. Get back whenever the doctors
give you a passing grade Lyss.

Would voice recognition software be of any use to Corlyss?

She has been spending a lot of her time in the Local library, actually...

I want Corlyss to know tha at her urging, I have been stocking up on some Monteverdi CDs. I have already reviewed some of them, but most are still awaiting their first audition as are about 3 plastic boxes about 30 inches long and 12 inches wide full of unlistened to CDs. I am going @ them systematically, though, and just today a new order, partially filled, arrived from H-B Direct containing the 10 CD Samson Francois Chopin box, the Ancerl Shostakovich Symphonies 1 & 5, and the Gertler Malapiero and Casella Violin Concerti. I also ordered the Stokowski Mahler 2 from BBC Legends, but I haven't received it yet.

I am really saddended to hear about Corlyss' health problems. I did not know about it until now, i haven't visited the forum very often lately. I also wish her a speedy recovery and i am glad to hear that she is doing quite well. In the meantime, i am one of many people who will miss her in this forum. In discussions with Corlyss we have sometimes agreed and sometimes disagreed. But the discussions have always been a source of inspiration! And she definitely deserves praise for her concern and kind words for fellow forum members. Let us all return the favour by wishing her a speedy recovery and return to the forum!

I had a nice long chat with Ms. Corlyss last night until after 1:30 a.m. Eastern time. Funny thing was that I could not get to sleep AT ALL last night. I ate quite a bit of coffee gelato while watching the Military channel and never thought about the possibility of caffeine. Having gone to bed at 4 a.m., I finally got up at 7 a.m. (not sleeping a wink), read the newspaper, watched some TV again (not very good viewing at these early hours, cable or no cable) and checked the computer. It is now near 9 a.m. (not Mean time as this site indicates) and, I am beginning to yawn and feel sleepy-eyed but have a lunch date at noon. It makes no sense to go back to bed. Corlyss is also a late-nighter and often goes to bed very late in the morning.

Anyway, Corlyss is sounding good, fighting some alergies as well as recovering from her arm situation, which precludes much typing. She says to say hello to everyone. We still don't know when she will return to CMG.

Just thought I'd share the news with you.

Thanks for info. Now, how about going to bed early? They say that it's not the number of hours, but the actual time of going to bed & fallling asleep that matters (for good health). Really. In the olden days, the hours between 10 PM & 12:00 were considered "beauty sleep" time.

Best thing on @ that hour is Morning Joe on MSNBC, then, an hour later @ 8 AM Eastern, there's two hours of West Wing reruns on Bravo, then @ 11 AM Eastern, there's two hours of In the Heat of the Night reruns on WGN. Just trying to help out.

There's an hour long hiatus between the last West Wing rerun and the first In the Heat of the Night rerun; that's usually when I begin my music listening day, having composed and posted my previous day's listening report just before Morning Joe, or during commercials or uninteresting segments. Up until a week ago, I liked to post early in the morning when no one else was doing so because I could do incomplete posts, then come back and add things to it secure in the knowledge that part of it was saved. Now, I have taken to doing my daily reports first in a Wordpad document, saving frequently. This also allows me to delete most of the post in Documents before saving the stub as a start on the next day's report. I will also leave stuff about continuing series up--right now, In addition to the intro on the date, my Wordpad Document has my most recent reports on the Schornsheim Haydn, the Panocha Quartet Dvorak, and the Jennifer Bate Messiaen series. That way, with each day, I can go in, change only the parts of the report that are new for the new CD without having to retype every day all the stuff that's the same for each record in the series.

Well, it's that time of the month again...time to inquire into the whereabouts and welfare of Madame Drynkard. (Did I get her surname correct?) :?:

She is doing OK, but, is still is not allowed to use her Computer by her Doctors, every week or so she sneaks online and sends one of us a single sentence, typed with one finger, to let us know she is still alive, the swelling in her hands and arms has improved a lot, but, the Doctors still insist she does not try typing...she spends most days at the Library reading books, or watching Fox etc on TV...

Thanx for your response! You know, it seems to me that driving to the library and getting books off the shelf and flipping the pages would be far more painful than (slowly) touching a few keys on a computer keyboard. It's not like she's hammering on a 1936 Remington or something. Doctors? Feh. What do they know.

I have never seen Fox teevee in my life. All we have is rabbit ears. Am I missing something? I hear negative, sneering comments about Fox TV but I don't see why it would be any worse than the other networks.

What's affected is her dexterity, driving involves hands holding a wheel, typing involves using her ten digits and presumably is much more painful for her...one can drive slowly with one hand, you need two hands to type...she had this ailment once before and was Hospitalized for a number of weeks, it took many months for her to recover after she left the Hospital....also, Corlyss types very fast, typing slowly is not her style at all...

Let's send her a voice recognition-friendly laptop with CMG as the default browser start page :D

Well, if you are not watching Fox TV because you only have the rabbit's ears, then I hope, at least, you listen to my weekly radio broadcast on your computer on Saturday evenings at 7pm Eastern Time, assuming, of course, your computer has speakers. You really don't need Fox! :)

You will not believe this (or maybe you will), how dumb I am, thick as a plank (as Princess Diana described herself), but I never knew how to find your show on our computer. Yes, we have nice little speakers ! So, show Dumbo how it's done!

First of all - are old programmes available, too? There's all kinds of great stuff I would like to hear.

Second - I clicked on your link and it tells me I have to upgrade Firefox or something like that. I will wait till the boys come home and show me what to do. :)

Muchos gracias, Sean.

I use version 7 of Internet Explorer and I never have any problems but like you say let the "kids" sort it out.

Hey! We tried using internet explorer and Bob's yer uncle! Thanks. But what has become of past programmes? Can't Lance just ask them to rerun them or how does this work?

Ms.Corlyss, I wish you a very speedy recovery.
I do not visit CMG frequently and I was sad to hear about Ms. Corlyss health problems.
