Is an autographed Sarah Chang CD worth four grand?!?!

Post by ch1525 » Thu Mar 15, 2007 10:08 pm

This is by far the craziest listing I have ever seen on eBay. This guy is trying to sell an autographed Sarah Chang CD for $3,999.00!!!!

The best part is near the end of the description in blue text where he gives his reason for selling and a very interesting stipulation.

eBay: Sarah Chang CD

I don't know. He seems pretty crafty and entrepreneurial to me!

No.

Seems to me that "crafty" and "entrepreneurial" require that you 1) have a product lots and lots of people want to buy; or 2) you can convince lots and lots of people that they want to buy your product. I don't think this guy is going to get a nibble at all.

No, of course it's not worth it. The guy must be desperate for $$$. And his caveat is a clever ploy ... meaning you could double your money in 4-5 years. This guy should be an automobile or insurance salesman, maybe even vacuum cleaners of Fuller brushes! Even Horowitz and Rubinstein don't garner those kinds of figures for their autographs! But then, as someone once said (you know who said it!): "There's a sucker born every minute." So, I thought I'd put in my bid. (Now don't go looking, folks!) :)

Well, I have two CDs autographed by Marc-Andre Hamelin! But they are not for sale, so I'll never know if they are worth than one Sarah Chang.

Well, I've a bunch of signed photos by much better violinists:
Heifetz,Oistrakh,Ricci,Szeryng,Francescatti,Thibaud,Campoli,Stern,Menuhin.
I thing that if I put all of them for sale on E Bay, maybe I could made
4 grands.

A genuine Sarah Chang CD autograph shouldn't go for more than $2,533.89.

Depends on whose autograph it bears. If Marilyn Monroe, it's probably worth $1000. Fritz Kreisler is going for $59. Since a Sarah Chang CD is included, this one could be worth anwhyere from $1 to $10.
"Most men, including those at ease with problems of the greatest complexity, can seldom accept even the simplest and most obvious truth if it would oblige them to admit the falsity of conclusions which they have delighted in explaining to colleagues, which they have proudly taught to others, and which they have woven, thread by thread, into the fabric of their lives." ~Leo Tolstoy

"It is the highest form of self-respect to admit our errors and mistakes and make amends for them. To make a mistake is only an error in judgment, but to adhere to it when it is discovered shows infirmity of character." ~Dale Turner

"Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either." ~Albert Einstein
"Truth is incontrovertible; malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it; but, in the end, there it is." ~Winston Churchill

Several names are most wanted. Signed photos by Ginette Neveu, Michael
Rabin, Josef Hassid, Ferras,Kapell, Sviatoslav Richter,Gould,Enescu,Heifetz,
Prihoda,Young Rubinstein,Young Menuhin,young Milstein,young Horowitz and
others are very expensive. And of course, any famous composer or conductor, in particular before 1940.

I doubt I'll ever sell, unless I get great offers, but I have postcards and menus signed by Dittersdorf.

The man was not merely a leading composer but also a remarkable seer. Do you find futuristic elements in his music?

1869, October 1 - Austria issued the world's first postal card. In the next few years, Austria's example was followed by many other countries: Switzerland (1870), Belgium (1871), Spain (1873), Italy (1873), Greece (1876), most of Scandinavia. (Wikipedia)

Indubitaby. Although I did find it a bit odd that one of the menus lists "Barbecue, Johnny Reb Style."
