I don't know that one, Jared....but if it approaches Daniel Müller-Schott's complete 'cello works of Schumann on Orfeo C617041A then it must be good! Robert Kulek is the pianist.

Müller-Schott also arranged the A Minor Sonata, op. 105 for 'cello and piano, a little bonus....

That [Orfeo set] is one of the most extraordinary multi-disc sets of DFD you will ever have. It is well recorded and features the legendary Gerald Moore at the piano. The Moore/Fischer-Dieskau lieder duo was probably the finest that has ever lived since recordings began.

Which Fischer-Dieskau recording, Chalkie? If you've not yet heard the live take from the Salzburg Festival in 1956... Don't hesitate much longer to rush to YouTube and have a (free) listen---fantastic!

Actually, it was the live one from Nuremburg in 1992...I have the 1956 Salzburg concert as part of an 11CD Set on Orfeo...

When I was putting together my Schumann anniversary program for our local public station, Lance suggested Schumann's etudes based on Beethoven's 7th Symphony. He was so enthusiastic about them that I very much wanted to hear them and program them. Unfortunately, the $50-plus Brilliant Classics box was not all that appealing and the only single CD of the work I could find had had such lousy reviews I was disinclined to spend the money.

Ted, that 13-CD + 1-DVD Brilliant boxed set [94008] is a pricier than most other Brilliant releases, but I can tell you that I am very glad to have it. It's a very fine supplement to the anniversary editions released by other labels (particularly the gorgeous DGG box). I was NOT disappointed in the least with the Brilliant box. Peter Frankl's original Vox recordings are included therein and they are outstanding in every respect. Klara Wurtz's Schumann has had some rave notices. Ronald Brautigam is also included as well as some other very fine pianists. While this boxed set only includes piano works, I still maintain it is very much worth having. Can you point me some of the "lousy" reviews you saw?

I prefer Winter Giant, Richter was very tall...

Schreier's readings of The Three Song Cycles with Andras Schiff are very good, so is his Mozart's Requiem...
