Classical musicians born in the YEAR OF THE HORSE!
2014: THE YEAR OF THE WOOD HORSE
On January 31, we will be entering the Lunar New Year, and in China the Year of
the Horse will be celebrated.
As a refresher to how the various "animal years" were initiated: the legend of
the god Buddha relates that, when he was to leave the earth, he invited all the
animals for a festivity. But only 12 animals showed up: the rat came initially,
followed by the ox, then the tiger, then the rabbit....so forth on down to the
dog and the pig, resulting in Buddha naming a year after each animal.
According to the Chinese astrologers (a much more reputable source, IMO, than
conventional Greek astrology), people born in the Horse year are talented, charming, effervescent, industrious, and logical. But to these pluses must be added the minuses: Horses are also self-serving, flighty, unfaithful, conniving, and moody.
People born in the Year Of The Horse are most compatible with those from the
Dog, Tiger, and Goat years, and should
avoid those born in the Rat, Rooster, Rabbit, and Ox years.

Schumann's a horse, of course, of course!

Re: Classical musicians born in the YEAR OF THE HORSE!
Also born in 1942: Maurizio Pollini. (Though this Chinese stuff means nothing at all to me, any more than horoscopes or zodiac signs do).
Cheers

Actually, being born on January 5, Pollini belongs to the previous, Snake year.Istvan wrote:Also born in 1942: Maurizio Pollini. (Though this Chinese stuff means nothing at all to me, any more than horoscopes or zodiac signs do).

Re: Classical musicians born in the YEAR OF THE HORSE!
I discovered I'm a WATER HORSE, just like Daniel Barenboim and the others from 1942. Of course, I don't RANK with any of them artistically.
