What can we hear at 3-degrees Upstate NY?

Yeah, 3 degrees, and supposed to be -1 as the night moves along.

Time for Vivaldi's Four Seasons "Winter," I guess.

Lance this made me think of the painter kadinsky-it was freezing yesterdayin nyc but fortunately all the public transportation was working fine-the Q line into brooklyn did a fine job-unfortunately getting to secaucus had a 45 minute delay-a bad accident on the hackensack bridge-we were so close to our hotel but traffic was at a crawl. How abut Vaughan-Williams's Sinfonia Antarctica?

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

Haydn would work in The Seasons as would Vaughan Williams. But for winter, on a cold night we might also hear the following:

Schubert: Winterreise
Tchaikovsky: "Winter Dreams," Symphony No. 1
Raff: Symphony #11 "Winter"
Halley's Winter Dream
Dett: Tropic Winter
Dohnanyi: Winter Dances for Piano
Holst: Winter Idyll
Bax: Winter Legends for Piano & Orchestra
Grieg: The Long, Long Winter Night (piano)
Blackberry Winter (song)
Tchaikovsky: November (piano) from The Seasons
Sibelius: Winter Scene from Five Sketches
Purcell: Frost Song from King Arthur
Debussy: The Snow is Dancing (Children's Corner Suite)
Waldteufel: Skater's Waltz
Glazunov: Winter from The Seasons
J. Strauss; Winterlust Polka
Debussy: Footprints in the Snow (Preludes for Piano Book I)
Offenbach: Ballet of the Snowflakes (Le voyage dans la lune)
Rimsky-Korsakov: The Snow Maiden (Snegourachka)
T. Arne: Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind
P. M. Davies: Symphony No. 8 (Antarctic Symphony)

Excellent list, Lance! Thank-you! I'm printing this and will use it as a reference during our upcoming cold weather.

I was being facetious about Wothe Vaughan-Williams.It's good to see so many serious suggestions, and none specially name like Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 ("Winter Dreams").

Been a long time since I heard that one. For some reason, it didn't "take" to my brain. Maybe I should give it a second chance. I certainly have the recordings!
