Pianist Alice Sara Ott diagnosed with multiple sclerosis

Post by Danny » Thu Jun 20, 2019 3:21 pm

Alice Sara Ott (born in 1988) is one of the “glamorous” pianists in the world today, but in a refined way.

I just read that, in February 2019, she announced on Instagram that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS).

Source of information:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Sara_Ott

I remember that the cellist Jacqueline Du Pre was also struck down by MS in her prime.

According to this site:

https://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/ms-treatment#1

there is no cure for MS but medicines and lifestyle changes can help the patient manage the disease.

I wish the best for Ms Ott.

That is so sad. A terrible shock to anyone, of course, but the thought of the gradual diminution of the ability of those hands is truly tragic.
I echo your best wishes.

PS: Welcome to CMG, Danny, and thanks for the post.

Dear Barney,

Thanks for the welcome.

I am the old "Allen" on this board and have been here since 2003. Due to a recent technical problem on this board, I was unable to log in as "Allen" and had to apply for a new account (and change my name to "Danny"). Sorry for causing the confusion.

Danny/Allen - welcome back with the new name! Glad you found your way back.

As for Alice Sara Ott's multiple sclerosis - that's a real bummer.

I remember you, Allen. If I were you, I'd change my name too. In fact, I'm just about to.
(sorry, but we have to spell it out these days - another example of what I laughingly call my sense of humour. But you are well senior to me on this board.)

Very sad news! I have the album pictured below, released here and in Japan, and admire her greatly. A tragedy to see a young artist so debilitated with such a promising career ahead of her.

I had a very promising soprano in my competition struck down by colon cancer (!) at the tender age of 26.......
