Today's HD Manon Rockaway NJ Mall

Post by lennygoran » Sat Oct 26, 2019 9:45 pm

For the most part a fine production-Orepresa was imo excellent and Fabiano was very good-afterwards our friends and us had a lovely meal at a BYO Greek/Italian restaurant about 10 minutes away from the Rockaway Mall. The production will be televised on Great Performances next year. For the first time the seats were reserved rather than first come first serve. Regards, Len

I saw the HD performance of Manon Saturday, too, in Ithaca, NY. Theater was fairly well filled. I thought Fabiano was outstanding - and was impressed with Oropesa as well. We tried fine dining in Ithaca after but the city was a mess traffic-wise and we went elsewhere for an excellent pot roast dinner. I felt the first part was a bit more extended in time but was impressed over all with the entire production.

That's sad about the attendance, Len. Manon is one of my favorite operas, but it's not a crowd-pleaser like Puccini and Verdi. I would have thought that with all the publicity surrounding the new soprano, there would have been more of a crowd.

We're looking forward to the PBS broadcast! Co you remember who was the conductor?
