This year’s Aldeburgh Festival (which Britten and Pears set up), due to take place in June, has been cancelled.

Sad but inevitable.

University of Minnesota Law Prof.Richard Painter today after news National Symphony Orchestra salaries stopped despite $ 25M in aid recently:
"Classical music as we know it may not survive this pandemic. This isn't just because concert venues will be shut for months, but also because ego centered managers loaded up their institutions with so many financial commitments that there's nothing left to get through hard times."

Re: Aldeburgh Festival cancelled
It is inevitable that the arts shut down when something like this global virus appears. I feel very badly for all these artists, chamber groups, symphonies, etc., who have been working assiduously preparing programs for performance since the coronavirus hit. It may take a long time coming back. For us who love great music, we are fortunate to have rather large collections to pick and choose and still be inspired by among the world's greatest performers/singers, etc.
