Congressman admits multiculturalism a failure

Post by burnitdown » Wed Dec 20, 2006 11:02 pm

"We need to stop illegal immigration totally and reduce legal immigration and end the diversity visas policy pushed hard by President Clinton and allowing many persons from the Middle East to come to this country."

Pluralism: never has worked, never will, in any of its many forms.

In order for someone to "admit" something, it must be the case that he has been in denial of something that is generally accepted as true. That is not the case here.

There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.

A fine upstanding American of ancient parochial persuasion. He should have been here in the 19th century, and kept the country clear of all them furrin immigrants - the Irish, the Germans, the Jews, the Italians, the whatever. All those who have made America what it is today. And of course, I suppose the emancipation of the slaves was a mistake, in his view.

And he'd luxuriate in a nation that's made it to the state the Nazis aspired to: Rasserein.

Desperate illiterate Quebeckian immigrant millworkers and teamsters (when it meant driving a team of log-hauling horses) whose children had eighth grade educations, whose grandchildren had high school educations, and whose great-grandchildren have degrees from great universities have to fit in there somewhere. :)

Thank you for an important contribution, John. That's the most vital aspect of the multiple streams that keep America progressing.

While I'm at it, best wishes to you - and all CMGers! - for a wonderful Christmas and many satisfying New Years. And best to your mother - rmembering our phone conversation last Summer, she may well be the charming member of the family!

And then there's the irony that congressman-elect Ellison was born in this country.

Rep. Goode is just an ignorant, zenophobic fool.

Burnitdown, isn't pluralism what this country was based on?

Are you saying we should all be what---Christians? European decendents?
In either case, I'd be SOL, as a proud atheist and American Indian.

I guess I'd better get back on the boat now--wait, I didn't come over on a boat, but on the land bridge from present-day Siberia.
