Post by Rach3 » Sat May 04, 2024 7:33 am

If interested in Sir Rattle and his new gig with the Bavarian Radio Symphony, their live Carnegie Mahler 6 last week is now free at WQXR starting at about 56:00 into the playback :

The 1st,6th,9th the only of Mahler’s symphonies I listen to ; nice moments in the 5th, but too long. Also enjoy “Das Lied von der Erde” and “ Kindertotenlieder.”

Everybody's got their favs! Mine: 1, 3 ... and 2 if I had to select three. But the Kindertotenlieder and Songs of a Wayfarer are way, way up there, too! Have learned to absolutely love this composer's work.
